              I am a Board Certified pediatrician, practicing In Butler since 1987. I am in the process of applying for medical staff privileges at the Butler Memorial Hospital.  I currently have medical staff privileges in the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital.  I send patients to Butler Memorial Hospital for emergency room services, laboratory, and x-ray services. If a child needs to be admitted for an illness, I currently admit them to the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh under Dr. Gartner's group.

              I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS.

             Please note that sometimes the provider directories do not have the most recently updated information about the participating physicians. IF YOU DO NOT SEE MY NAME in your participating physician's directory, please call my office and we will help you with the information you need.  You can also contact the insurance company directly to find out about my participation.

            Once I get admitting privileges at the Butler Memorial Hospital, I will attend deliveries.  Till then, the Newborns are seen by the on-call pediatrician.  I would like to see uncomplicated newborns within 5-7 days after discharge. For newborns with complications such as infection or jaundice, I would like to see them between 3-5 days after discharge. Kindly call after discharge to set up your appointment.

             Your calls during office hours are triaged by the nurse in charge. If you do not wish to make an appointment for your child’s symptoms and would like to talk to me, I will return your call before the closing time of the office, or by 9 P.M. the same day in non-emergency situations. Please leave the phone numbers of where you can be reached that day.

            After hours policy for our patients to reach the doctor is as follows: You may call the regular office number (724)789-9950, which will then automatically switch you over to Herman Answering Service at (724) 287-6697. There, you will speak to someone who will take the necessary information and page me. In case of telephone malfunctioning of the call forwarding, please call directly to Herman Answering Service at (724) 287-6697. Have the following information available: symptoms, temperature, ALLERGIES, a list of current medications and the  pharmacy number. PLEASE remember to leave your phone line open after you have paged me, as I usually return the call within an hour. If it is a life-threatening emergency, please go directly to the nearest emergency room. If for some reason I do not return your call within 30 minutes, call the answering service and ask them to page me again.

            Our appointment policy is that each patient will be seen according to the appointment time and not the arrival time. However, there may be an unforeseen emergency that could delay your visit time. If this happens, please bear with us until the emergency is handled. We will then resume our scheduled appointments. If for some reason you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, kindly give 24 hours’ notice. We will do our best to see all sick children the same day if it is possible. If not, we will see them in 24 hours.

            For referrals, please give as much time as possible for us to complete the necessary forms. It would help us if you have the provider number of the specialist you are scheduled to see.

           Co-payments and payments for self-pay patients are due at the time of service unless otherwise indicated.

           During the period when I am on vacation (2-3 weeks of the year), coverage will be provided by Dr. Ashbaugh and Dr. Tiburcio.

           We are currently accepting new patients. We give referrals, when indicated, to the specialists of your choice.  You may choose where you wish to continue your specialty care, whether locally or at Children’s Hospital. To release your record from your previous doctor to me, you may come to the office to sign consent forms.

           We participate in the following insurances:

·        Select Blue, Keystone Blue, Community Blue, Blue Chip: (Provider Number 035364.) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·        US Healthcare and Aetna: (Provider Number 94535). You will be effective the same day you call. Note that we have a "Current Patients Only" status for US Healthcare. We accept US Healthcare for the siblings of existing patients, and we also accept any transfers of current patients from other health plans.

·        Best: (Provider Number 1019340028) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of  a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·        Gateway: (Provider Number 1507692 ) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of  a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·        MedPlus: (Provider Number 72705) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of  a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·        TriState UPMC Health Plan: (Provider Number 1019340028. Office site number 4607) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of  a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·         Health America/Health Assurance: (Site Number E18 ) If you call before the 15th of a month, you will be effective the 1st of the following month. After the 15th of  a month, you will be effective six weeks after that.

·        Champus, Tricare, Cigna, PCS and most other commercial insurances are accepted.
